Google Adsense is probably no stranger to the MMO (Make money online) community and is also considered a popular monetization method in the current period. What do you understand about Google Adsense and how can you exploit the goldmine of Google Adsense?
Part 1: What is Google Adsense? How to make money with Google Adsense?
1.1. Definition and how Google Adsense works
According to the Vietnamese Wikipedia, “AdSense is an advertising service provided by Google. Website or blog owners can sign up for this program to post ads in the form of text, images, and recently, even videos on their websites. These ads are managed by Google and generate revenue based on the cost-per-click and cost-per-impression models. Google is currently beta testing a service based on cost-per-action. Google uses its search technology to provide ad links that are compatible with the content, location of the visitor, language, and many other factors of the website using AdSense. Those who want to post ads through the AdSense system can register through AdWords. AdSense has become the most popular online advertising service thanks to the “harmony” of ad content with website content, in contrast to the banner advertising method that was previously popular. In addition, the placement of AdSense ad links does not annoy visitors as much as banners.” Simply put, when you sign up for an Adsense account and place Google’s ad code on your website or blog, the program will automatically display ad units based on the content of the post, the reader’s location, and more. When someone clicks on these ads, you will be paid by Google, and at a certain level, you can withdraw cash. This is one of the most popular ways to make money online because it is quite simple and easy to use. But is it that easy? And what should you pay attention to when using Google Adsense? Let’s find out together in the following sections.
Exploring ways to maximize online earnings with Google Adsense
1.2. Types of Google Adsense Accounts
Currently, there are two types of Google Adsense accounts, each with its own characteristics, to avoid confusion you can refer to the following:
Hosted Account
This is an account registered through Google’s hosting platforms such as YouTube, Blogspot, etc. When using a Hosted account to run Google Adsense, only ads on Google-managed pages will be displayed on your page, and ad codes created by you cannot be used. This is the reason why many people, although they have added the ad code, only see a blank white when displaying.
Content Account
This is an account obtained when fully meeting Google’s requirements for content, traffic, etc., which is usually very difficult to do. With this account, you can fully display ads on any domain.
1.3. Ways to earn money from Google Adsense
Currently, there are two ways to earn money from Google Adsense:
CPC (Cost per click): With this method, you will receive money each time someone clicks on an ad on your site, depending on the pricing of each advertiser and the popularity of the news, the amount of money for each click is different.
CPM (Cost per thousand impressions): This can be seen as an accumulation method, for every 1000 times an ad is displayed on Google, you will be paid. For sites with high traffic, this method can generate a lot of profit for you. Although divided into two different ways, when you post ads, Google defaults to using both of these methods. To continue learning about this unique way of making money online, please read part 2 of the guide to using Google Adsense, which will provide the necessary conditions when you want to cooperate with Google.
Part 2: Things to note before registering for a Google Adsense account
In the previous part of the article “Everything about Google Adsense”, we introduced you to the concept, classification, and ways to make money from this Google advertising tool. If you are looking to register a Google Adsense account, please read the following notes before you make any mistakes.
2.1. Having an About Us – Contact – Privacy page
This is probably a very small thing that causes Google to not approve Adsense accounts, and after consulting many places, we discovered it. Many websites nowadays often ignore this information or put it all on the homepage, but Google does not agree. To overcome this, it is very simple, you just need to create separate pages, write full information about your website, field of activity, the information provided, address, contact information (email, phone number, fax …), and security information.
2.2. Quantity and quality of articles
Because Adsense relies on article content to post ads, Google attaches great importance to this issue. Many people think that the number of articles on a website must reach over 100, but in fact, there are pages with only a few dozen articles that have been approved. This can be explained by the fact that Google not only needs quantity but also the quality of articles, low copy ratio, and unique, fresh content, so the possibility of approval will be higher. Currently, Google has many algorithms to help check this, so don’t think you can get past the big guy. It’s better to write special, really good content.
2.3. Traffic
Don’t look at the final number of visits to assess the possibility of Google approving the Adsense account. Because the amount of traffic also needs to be divided by the number of articles, if your article is small, it requires a very high amount of traffic, even up to thousands of visits per day, and vice versa for a website with many articles. In addition, this traffic must be calculated based on search results using tools, not direct access through links.
2.4. Prestigious domain
Google prioritizes websites with domains purchased from reputable providers such as Godaddy, and BlueHost, … over free or low-cost domains. In particular, commercial domains with the “.com” extension have a higher chance of being approved.
2.5. Friendly interface
Although Google Adsense mainly evaluates websites based on content factors, the design style of the interface also has a significant impact. You should arrange the modules, images, news, etc. reasonably, and create a friendly experience for users, so it is easier for Google to place ads.
2.6. Effort from the early days
For Google to approve the Adsense account, your website must have been operating for at least 6 months, but the advice is to make an effort to increase traffic from the first days of establishment. Writing good content, designing interfaces, and having methods to attract readers will make Google pay more attention to your website, thus making it easier to register for an account.
2.7. Do not use many advertising networks
In the Google Adsense terms of service, it is clearly stated that it does not agree with websites using advertising networks of some units. Of course, other units may still be possible, but it is best to only use Google Adsense, do not be greedy, it will affect the development of your Google Adsense account later. 2. 8. Declare accurate information
Remember that activities on Google Adsense help you earn money, so you should declare all information requested by Google accurately, especially name, age, and email address. This is all the necessary information for Google to control and send money to you.
Part 3: Steps to register a Google Adsense account
If you have read the previous two parts of the article All About Google Adsense, you probably have a certain understanding of this advertising network and how it makes money. Here we will introduce the steps to register a Google Adsense account.
Step 1: Create a website
The website is an important factor and is the foundation for you to run Google Adsense, so to place ads, first create a website for yourself. The website needs to be professionally designed in terms of interface, content needs to be unique and useful to readers. One thing to note is not to copy articles from other sites, and not post content related to some topics such as Adult content, violence, copyrighted, reactionary, … and other illegal content.
When writing articles, pay attention to keywords, focus on a few important words, and write content around them, don’t ramble on. The longer an article, the better, images are secondary, and words are the main thing, usually from 800 to 1200 words is okay. Especially don’t forget the pages about About Us – Contact – Privacy that we mentioned in Part 2: Notes before registering for a Google Adsense account.
Step 2: Create a Google Account
You need to create a new Gmail address by visiting the gmail.com website. The declared information should be accurate and realistic, convenient for control and payment later.
Step 3: Register for an Adsense account
In Part 2: Notes before registering for a Google Adsense account, we have listed some conditions to increase the likelihood of Google approving your newly registered Adsense account. You should ensure the quantity and quality of articles, and try to create attractiveness to get a stable traffic of at least 300-500 visits/day. After ensuring that you have a “clean record”, you can visit to register for an Adsense account at: and follow the instructions. Remember to provide accurate information.
Step 4: Ad Setup
After Google reviews your website and it meets all the criteria, you will be approved to place an ad code. You can access your Adsense account to set up, select the items you want to set up and enter the required parameters. Note that if you want to set up ads from a domain, you must have that domain beforehand. Finally, you take the code to integrate into your website and customize the appropriate position.
It’s important to remember that during this time, Google only temporarily approves your Adsense account, they still monitor all your activities. So don’t be foolish to do suspicious activities like clicking yourself or mobilizing people to click ads for you.
Step 5: PIN Verification and Payment Address
This is a rather complicated step, but if you have done the previous steps well, it will be a little easier. First, your Gmail, please verify via your phone number. Google will send you an email to verify your address before sending you the PIN by mail. According to the experience of predecessors, you should rent a mailbox at a large post office, so that the possibility of the PIN reaching you is higher.
If you have requested the PIN 3 times and still have not received any after 4 weeks of requesting, please access your account and follow the instructions.
When you have the PIN, you have officially become a Google partner.
Step 6: Notes after placing ads
Although you can now comfortably earn money from the ads that Google places on your website, don’t be subjective, please fully comply with the following Google Adsense policies:
- Do not click on your ads.
- Do not ask others to click on your ads.
- Do not include any prohibited website content, including adult content, violence or excessive offensive behavior, addictive substances (including alcohol and tobacco), or copyrighted material.
- Do not modify the AdSense code.
- Follow our Webmaster Quality Guidelines.
- Provide a positive user experience.
- Do not place more than 3 ad units, 3 link units, and 2 search boxes on any page.
- Do not place images near ads in a way that could mislead users into thinking that the image is linked to the ad.
Remember that Google has intelligent algorithms to detect all your fraudulent activities, so instead of thinking of ways to circumvent the law, be more honest, and then the money will slowly flow into your pocket.
Part 4: Experiences using Google Adsense
After reading the previous parts of the article “All about Google Adsense” and following the instructions to have a partner account with Google, in this part, we will provide some experiences to help you run Adsense more effectively.
4.1. How to arrange Google Adsense
When you have the Google ad codes, the next important thing you need to care about is where to place them so that the click-through rate will be high. The best way to attract readers’ attention is to place ads at the beginning or on both sides of the article, so Google Adsense will be displayed more clearly and have a high correlation with the content. One thing to note is to make the ad content look like a part of the website by keeping the link color and background color the same as the website because readers’ psychology is often very sensitive to such paid marketing styles.
In a website, you can place 3 Google Adsense ad codes, 1 link line, 1 search line (this is a type of ad displayed in a search box, when you enter a keyword into this box, it will be redirected to a Google search link or any other search engine), and finally a product link, even if you place more, it will not be displayed. If the ad content is short, you can place it at the beginning of the article, if it is too long, embed it inside the article. Remember not to place Google Adsense in pop-up windows or blank pages.
4.2. Content for Google Adsense
As mentioned in Part 2: Notes before registering for a Google Adsense account, content is a very important factor, it directly affects the display of ad codes and the number of clicks. Therefore, you should take good care of your posts, the content must be unique and fresh to attract readers. If possible, do not write all the content on one page but split it into multiple articles to increase the click-through rate, because readers feel that they have not found what they want, this will stimulate them to click on the ad more.
After writing and posting articles, you should regularly check the click-through rate using the Google Webmaster Tools, if it is too low, review it to plan to optimize the article better. Use Overture or Google Adwords to find out what keywords readers are interested in to write articles around that keyword, thereby ensuring higher impressions and click-through rates. Besides, you can also combine Google Sitemap to statistics the most searched keywords on your website and then supplement them reasonably.
There is one thing to note about the content of Google Adsense ads, text links are usually better than image links because text links give readers more options to click. If you have to use image links, you should choose sizes 300×250 or 160×600 for better display.
4.3. Avoid Fraudulent Activities
Never assume that Google is unaware of your actions or has insufficient resources to monitor your account. Many new Adsense users, due to a lack of understanding or carelessness, engage in activities such as encouraging others to click on ads or clicking on ads themselves. This is strictly prohibited and can lead to account termination. Google has sophisticated systems in place to detect fraudulent activities.
Using applications to artificially increase click-through rates is not wise, nor is modifying the HTML code provided by Google Adsense. It’s better to focus on genuinely optimizing your content to attract readers and naturally increase click-through rates. If you suspect someone is maliciously clicking on your ads, consider using a Google Adsense click fraud protection tool.
4.4. Maximizing Your Earnings
Many people, when they start, are very eager and place ads from several places other than Google Adsense at once. Of course, if you know how to choose, it will not violate the regulations, but the advice is that if you have already used it, you should only choose Google Adsense. And don’t think that with just Google Adsense, money will automatically go into your pocket.
Time is also an important factor that determines the price of each click. Entering the site and clicking immediately will have a lower value than reading the content for a few minutes and then clicking. In the process of running Google Adsense, you should regularly check the ratings, if any ad has a bid rate that is too low, below $0.1, you should remove it.
The above is the knowledge about Google Adsense that we want to share with you, hopefully, you will earn a lot of money from this tool.
More than a year ago, we shared with you a series of articles “All about Google Adsense” with 4 parts, from introduction, installation, and some small tips to make money online at home with this tool. After a long time of applying and learning more, we have compiled some new experiences and want to share them with you in part 5 right after this.
Part 5: CPC Rates and Common Mistakes to Avoid When Running Google Adsense
5.1. The amount Google pays per click by country
In Part 1, we introduced 2 ways to make money online at home from Google Adsense, which are CPC and CPM, but both are based on the number of clicks by users on the ads to calculate the money. However, not all clicks from any country are paid the same by Google, in some countries, it is even ten times more than others. Below is the ranking of CPC rates of 80 countries in the world in descending order.
According to this ranking, Australia has the highest CPC (0.48 USD) while the lowest is Cambodia (0.03 USD) and is equal to Vietnam. There is a lot of controversy about Google’s “injustice” and it is not clear why, but it is speculated that Google bases the CPC rate on the potential of the local market, if the quality of the click is high, the conversion rate is good, Google will pay a higher price.
Also because the CPC rate is too low, many people are not very interested in Adsense in Vietnam, they find ways to get clicks from abroad to increase profits. To do that, their website must have content that serves international people, link to foreign forums, and choose keywords in foreign languages. Although it is more difficult and time-consuming, but the income is 10 times more attractive to make them try.
5.2. Three reasons why Google rejects your Adsense application
The website violates Google’s policy.
Before submitting an Adsense application to Google, you must comply with a policy board of 15 mandatory conditions set by Google itself (see details at: ). But sometimes you will miss a small condition without knowing, and then Google will send you an email notification. This case is often common with some reasons such as pages with sensitive content, sloppy, using subdomains, forums to register, or copyrighted source code, … To avoid this, you should list all these small requirements as a list and then start building content, and linking for your website.
Insufficient Content
- This reason is often encountered with newly established websites that have too little content (less than 10 articles), superficial content, or mainly images. In the rejection email, Google also provides some suggestions you can follow such as:
- The website needs to have text articles (websites containing mainly images, videos, and flash are not accepted)
- Content must have complete sentences and paragraphs, not just titles
- The website must be completed before registering for Google Adsense, test pages will be rejected
Copyright Infringement
Copyright issues are taken very seriously abroad, but in our country, it is a bit loose, especially the copyright of content on the Internet. If your website posts other people’s content, or stores copyrighted music or ebooks, Google will reject your Adsense registration. Even websites that do not link to copyrighted pages are blacklisted by Google. Therefore, before registering, you should remove all of this content from your website.
5.3. Reasons for your Google Adsense account to be disabled
Clicking on your ads
Whether intentional or accidental, as long as Google detects that you are clicking on the ad banners placed on your website, your Adsense account is likely to be disabled immediately. Google will store all information from your previous login to the account such as IP address, browser, operating system, … so don’t expect to circumvent the law or use automated tools. If you run Adsense for Youtube, Google also recommends that you skip the ad segment on your video, otherwise, you will be blacklisted.
Using software to increase clicks
Currently, there are many software programs that Adsense users share, helping to automatically increase clicks to earn hundreds of dollars per month, such as Adsense Bot. But remember that Google manages this issue very tightly and has countless ways to detect fraud. Google even recommends that you limit the use of link-checking programs within the website because some programs will automatically click on the outlines on the banner.
Placing ads in deceptive positions
Some people want to circumvent the rules, so they place ads in positions where users are forced to click on the website, such as the menu bar, navigation, download links, see more, … Google will put you in a fraudulent case if detected, of course, the Adsense account will also be locked immediately.
Using third-party services related to clicks and impressions
In its regulations, Google does not encourage you to use third-party services such as click exchange, or view exchange, … because it will create fake clicks on ads. In addition, Google does not welcome a website that simultaneously displays its ads and those of competitors, such as Yahoo Publisher Network. However, you can still display them alternately using a PHP code to maximize profits.
Content-related issues
Google not only reviews website content when you submit your Adsense application but also continuously checks while the account is running. As soon as they detect sensitive content (pornography, adult-only) or copyrighted content (mp3 files, videos, software, comics, …), your account will be locked.
Above are some notes to help you register and run Google Adsense smoothly, without being locked out of your account. If you have other experiences, please share them with everyone!
